Would you like to have a little help in thanking the Lord for your blessings? No better example can be found than that of Jesus. R.G. Lee told us in a sermon that Jesus gave thanks..
- ..for food. Mark 6:41 (“Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves”)
- ..for personal gifts. John 12:7 (“‘Leave her alone,’ Jesus replied. “It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial”)
- ..for friends. John 15:15 (” I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you”)
- ..for helpful service. Matthew 25:34-36 ( “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me'”)
- ..for revealed truth. Matthew 11:25 (“Jesus said, ‘I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children'”)
- ..for answered prayer. John 11:41 (“Then Jesus looked up and said, ‘Father, I thank you that you have heard me'”)
- ..for Calvary sufferings. Matthew 26:27-28 (“Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins'”)
Happy Thanksgiving. May it be a blessed day for you and your family. May we all follow the example of Jesus who gave thanks always for all things.
